How to sign up for a teacher's account?
-To sign up for a teacher's account, go to web.solfeg.io; -Click on the Sign up for free button; -Enter your first and last name, email, password and click Sign up; -Now, a pop-up screen should show up! Select your role as Music Teacher, click on all the subjects you're teaching, watch the introduction video, select your subscription plan (you can change it anytime) and you're all set!
What can I teach with Solfeg.io?
Solfeg.io is best suited for General Music teachers. It can also be used in Elementary, Choir, Modern Band or Private lessons.

Which age groups can I use Solfeg.io with?
Solfeg.io is best suited for pre-teens (age 9-12) and teens (age 13-19). Solfeg.io can be adapted for younger elementary school children too, but you should be more attentive to the difficulty level of the songs you are choosing to play or teach in your class.
What technology and tools do I need in my classroom to use Solfeg.io?
Solfeg.io is simple, quick and highly intuitive. Your system doesn’t have to meet any technical requirements and you don't need to install any software to run Solfeg.io. However, a computer and a connection to Wi-Fi is essential. Solfeg.io is best used with a Google Chrome browser. You can enhance the lesson by having a projector so that all students are able to clearly see the song notation on the screen. Similarly, speakers can help students to hear the song better. Students can also download the Solfeg.io app on their phones and do their assignments there.
Are the lyrics appropriate for school use?
We take lyric safety very seriously. All the lyrics for Solfeg.io songs are filtered, swear words are removed or changed to different words.
Can students use Solfeg.io outside of schools?
Yes! Students can continue using Solfeg.io at their home with their own computer or mobile phone (the app is suitable for both iOS and Android).
How often is new content added?
A new song is added every week. New tutorials for piano, ukulele and guitar are also added frequently.
How to invite students to Solfeg.io?
-Log in to your account at web.solfeg.io; -Click on Students on the left-side menu; -You'll be presented with 3 options to invite your students with:
1) Use a unique link and code - you just have to copy, paste and send this message to your students and they will be able to sign up;
2) Use their emails - write down student email addresses and they will receive a further email with the instructions to sign up;
3)Use a QR code - the students scan a QR code with their phones and are directed to sign up.
How do students sign up to Solfeg.io?
To sign up, your students will have to enter their emails and passwords. Remember that they have to use your sign-up link to register - otherwise, they won't be added to your class.
To invite: Send them the invitation message which you can get in your Student Dashboard (e.g. Get Solfeg.io here https://web.solfeg.io/join/xxxxxxxx and use my code XXXXXXXX to join the class.)
How to check if students have successfully registered?
Log in to Solfeg.io and click on the “Students” section in the menu. There, you will be able to see a list of students who have already successfully registered.
Tip: To ensure easy student registration:
Be clear about the requirements of the registration: -What kind of email should students use when registering? -Is there a specific school email you want them to use? -Can they register via Facebook? -Should the students use a password known to you or can they create their own?
How to find the right songs for your classroom?
Click on Songs on the left-side menu; Click on Filters; Here, you can filter songs by different parameters: -By their difficulty level on a particular instrument (piano, ukulele, guitar, percussions, voice); -By chords; -By the number of chords in the song; -By key; -By instruments which are played in the song.
You can also combine filters, for example, search for a song which has a C chord in it, but also no more than 4 chords in total.
Navigating the song player and its features
How do I slow down:
Click on the minus button - it is on the left side to the play button. You can slow down up to 4 times.
How do I loop a section:
Click on the button with two arrows making a circle - it is on the right side to the play button. Click on the section you want to loop. When you want to exit the loop, click the X button.
How do I change the visuals on the interactive player:
Click on the light purple button on the far right side of the player; There you will be able to change the visuals: -Notation visuals will show 3-4 rhythm lines that the students can clap along with; -Piano visuals will show how the piano chords that you should play in the song look like; -Guitar visuals will show how the guitar chords that you should play in the song look like; -Ukulele visuals will show how the piano chords that you should play in the song look like; -Bass visuals will show how the piano chords that you should play in the song look like.
Where can I find song versions in different keys? Click on the dark purple button on the far right side of the player; Click on the Versions button; There you will be able to find the versions of the particular song in different keys. If you cannot find the key you need, you can request a version.
How can I assign songs to students?
-Click on Songs on the left-side menu; -Hover your cursor over the cover picture of the song you want to assign; -Click on the 'i' button; -The buttons to assign a song should be on the down-right corner; -You can click to assign the song to your Google Classroom or you can click to copy the link to the song you want to assign.
How can I assign quizzes to students?
-Click on Quizzes on the left-side menu; -Click on the quiz you want to assign; -The buttons to assign a quiz should be on the down-right corner; -You can assign the quiz to your Google Classroom or you can copy the link to the quiz you want to assign.
How do I use student statistics?
-Click on Students on the left-side menu to open statistics; -If you have invited students, their names should appear on a list at the student statistics; -Activity column will show if a particular student is online;Score column will show a particular student's average quiz score; -To see detailed statistics, click on the name of a student and an additional window should appear on the right side; -There, you will see how many quizzes this student has taken, what is their quiz completion rate (how many quizzes have they finished?), what is their average score, how many songs they have played. Moreover, you can see their quiz history, one-by-one - what was their score on a particular quiz and how many takes did they do.
How to plan a lesson using Solfeg.io?
Visit resources.solfeg.io to find out many lesson plans for music theory, history, analysis, composition, improvisation, band and instrument playing. All lesson plans teach a particular concept with the help of a popular song that is available in the Solfeg.io song library (for example, using Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa to teach dotted quarter notes).
If you want to make your own lesson plan, here are some tips:
-Choose a particular song and analyze what kind of musical concepts you can teach with it; -Make sure you have a projector available in your class, so all your students can see the notation, lyrics and structure of the song; -Plan 1-4 exercises to do during the lesson! They can involve anything from learning particular chords from the song, learning the melody, lyrics or rhythm lines, analyzing the song structure, genre, timbres, voices and instruments played, improvising or composing over the song by muting some voices or instruments.
How to use Solfeg.io for hybrid or fully remote learning?
Hybrid:
-You can show the Solfeg.io song player and notation on a video call platform (for remote students) and on your projector (for in-class students) simultaneously to teach. -You can devote the 1st half of the lesson to teach a new concept, and then assign the students to do a quiz about this concept on Solfeg.io. -Students can do that on their devices (phones or computers) regardless if they're in class or studying remotely.
Fully remote:
-You can teach songs with Solfeg.io remotely by sharing your screen on a video call platform. -You can give assignments (songs, quizzes) to your students that they can do on their own devices (phones, computers) at home.

How can I purchase Solfeg.io for my schools or district?
-Log in to your account at web.solfeg.io; -Click on Settings on the left-side menu; -Click on My Subscription; -Click on Upgrade; -Choose the plan most suitable to your school's needs; -Enter your billing details; -Now, you have a 14-day trial to test out all the premium features. During this time, you will also receive a quote to your email which you can bring to your school's director, accountant, district manager or any other person who oversees purchases at your school. After 14 days, an invoice will be sent to you and the school's accountant (for your convenience). You can pay by card, by invoice or by check.
How do I cancel my trial?
If you signed up on Solfeg.io web, To manage the details of your subscription, click on Settings and then My Subscription. To cancel your subscription, click on Unsubscribe and then OK on the pop-up confirmation window. After your subscription has been cancelled it will remain active for the period you’ve paid for. How to change my password?
If you have forgotten your password and want to change it: -Go to web.solfeg.io; -Click Forgot password; -New password instructions will be sent to your email.
If you just want to change your password: -Log in to your account; -Click on Settings on the left side menu; -Click on Update Password -Enter your new password and click Confirm.

How do I cancel my trial?
If you signed up on Solfeg.io web, To manage the details of your subscription, click on Settings and then My Subscription. How do I repeat a section: -Click on the playback button - it is on the right side to the play button. This should bring you back to the start of the section you just practiced. -If you want to start over the song, click the playback button twice.
